What Happens in the Prayer Room?  The prayer room is a place of envisioning, encouragement, equipping, personal and corporate growth, friendship, healing, revelation and illumination.  There are really three things going on in our prayer meetings; we are ministering to God on a weekly basis (praise, thanksgiving, adoration, attentive presence), we are interceding for the things on God’s heart (nations, cities, people, issues, Harmony—sometimes this takes on a prophetic nature), and we are sharing our lives together.  Each prayer meeting has developed its own flavor and attendees.  Because we value one another we spend time each meeting sharing our lives and praying for each other.

The Purpose of the Prayer Room:  The purpose of the Prayer Room is always to meet and share our hearts with God and one another.  We seek the direction of the Spirit in each meeting, and our focus changes according to His leading and the seasons that Harmony and the Church in general are currently experiencing.  We desire to cover our local body with prayer on a personal level; we are committed to praying for all levels of leadership and their families, each ministry and its needs and activities, and for individuals and their personal needs.  Prayer also includes issues and government of Kansas City, the United States and the world.  Harmony has an affiliation with several missionaries and churches in other nations, as well as, numerous annual mission trips.  We are committed to covering these groups with prayer, also.  It might be easier to simply say that we pray for everyone as the Spirit leads!

Prerequisites for joining the Prayer Ministry:  No talent, skill or gifting is required.  No special calling beyond the call we all have to prayer as believers and followers of Christ.  All one needs is a desire to invest time with the Lord.  The door is open to all.  You do not need to commit to a specific time.  You may come and go as you desire.  Some faithfully come and are present before the Lord but seldom pray out loud.  Others have more experience in intercession and feel comfortable participating in vocal prayers.  All are welcome.

Requirements and Expectations in the Prayer Room:  Our requirements would be that you desire to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and the appointed leadership rather than our own agenda, humility in our interaction with others, a commitment to biblical truth, and confidentiality.  We have a number of people who are capable leaders, a number of capable musicians (acoustic guitar), and we sometimes use CDs.

We look forward to seeing you in the prayer room, getting to know you better, and sharing our lives together as we seek His face and His help!

May We Pray For You?
